The District Comer Steering Committee meets monthly to moniter and support implementation of the Comer Process throughout the district. The meetings are attended by communicators from each building, administrators (building and district), representatives of each bargaining unit (custodial, secreterial and aides/assistents), parent/community representatives, representatives from the university partners (LIU/Post and Yale) and the district Comer facilitator. Meetings are held at the Westbury Public Library from 3:30-5:00 PM. See "Steering Committee Goals" below.

Steering Committee Goals

The Comer Steering Committee seeks to:

* Further implementation of the Comer Process in the buildings as well as at the district level by identifying the express needs of each team or building.

* Create staff development to explore interventions through the developmental pathways.

* Assist in development and implementation of "Comer in the Classroom."

* Reach out to parents/community members with Comer workshops to support their role in the process.

* Assist in organizing and planning the "Community Conference Day."

* Open the lines of communication between the Steering Committee and the building/community committees or teams.

* Further the development of and deepen the link with university partners (LIU/Post and Yale) in the above goals.
