Project Description

One Student's Journey through the EEV
Jerry Garfunkel

Project Title
   "One student's journey throught the Electronic Educational Village"

Participants
Jerry Garfunkel, Brian H, Julie H, John C, Bette S, Deep Water, Chivy Sock S, Faye Feller, Karen V, Beth, James G, Irving Roth, Kevin, Mike R, Eva M, Mike B, Bill K.

Purpose:
Present a glimpse of some of the EEV events and activitiies personally experienced over a two-year period, 2004, 2005. It is from the perspective of one student - me.    This glimpse is not meant to be a "typical" view of the EEV.  There is no such thing as a typical journey through the EEV.  Every student and every visitor to the EEV has a unique experience depending on his/her interest in education as well as her/his contribution to the EEV.

Why
As the audience for this project varies so too do the reasons for visiting this project.  Stated in the main home page of the project web site, each visitor will come to this site for personal reasons:

* a potential student in the T.E.A.M. program may come to see what (may) lies ahead;
* a former or current student in T.E.A.M. may come to compare one's own experiences to another student's experiences;Ê
* a Supervisor/Superintendant or a Regent from NY State
may come to assess the LIU graduate Ed Tech program;
* a public or private school teacher on Long Island may come to tap into the wealth of classroom and research resources;
* a mother, father, son or daughter, husban or wife or an interested friend may come to share the experiences with a significant other.
* a mentor in the graduate school of Educational Technology at LIU may come to assess for grading of one student.
* a wanderer who has lost her/his way may come.

JG personal objectives

  • Reflect on my personal journey in the EEV and publically share these reflections with others.
  • Create an introduction to some of the sounds, images, flavors, experiences, benefits, resources, and other village residents, available in the EEV.
  • Demonstrate the broad range of multi-media technology incorporated in the EEV.

Project Goals

  • Satisfy the many different reasons, listed above, that brought others to the web site.
  • Satisfy graduate student requirements
  • Incorporate technology learned in the 15 months in which I participated in TEAM
