Introduction

This is a webquest for educators who want to exploit the benefits of live-video in the classroom.

The WebCam WebQuest was created with the

Belief
that

Sharing and respecting others' perspectives on all matters in life is a positive thing

Students from multiple cultures, united for cooperative and collaborative learning, will broaden their perspectives, their knowledge, their friendships and much more.

Live-video portals, connecting two classrooms, is an excellent way to expose students to resourcces (mentors and other students) beyond their own community

 

In this WebCam WebQuest we will ask and answer these questions:

where to find appropriate internet webcams & how to prevent inappropriate internet webcams
how to address your school administration's issues (privacy/security/cost/community/facility/legalities/supervision)
how to set up a simple system in your classroom
where to find repositories of "live video" lessons in all subjects and for all grades
what are the real costs
how and where to contribute your own "live-video" curricula
how to keep you/your students/your school safe
how to join "classroom-partnerships" around the world, using live-video to share collaborative, cooperative projects with other classrooms

 

In the WebCam WebQuest we will do the following:

  • develop lessons using WebCams, curriculum
  • survey directories listing thousands of webcams worldwide teaching
  • build your own "reference collection" of relevant webcams (relevant to the subject and grade that you teach) curriculum repository
  • configure various models for using webcams in the classroom technical
  • create a budget for various configurations admin
  • identify other issues of importance such as: security, privacy, copyrights, permissions, school rules, legal matters, et al admin
